"Rewrite"(http://key.visualarts.gr.jp/rewrite/) is the latest product of Visual Art"s / Key.
The tagline is "Could it possibly be rewritten, that fate of hers?"
"Rewrite" Trial Edition is included in "Kud-Wafter".
About the engine
The novel engine for "Rewrite" is called "Siglus Engine" that is based on DirectX9 and it requires "Pixel Shader".
Please reference the "SiglusEngine" that I introduced on wikipedia.
Pixel Shader is required for lighting, shading and rendering. That is a little heavy in the trial-version included with Kudo-Wafter.
The game window is big wide-screen(1280*800px) same as the developers said.
I had to play in full-screen mode because the resolution of my laptop was just 1280*800.
Itaru-Hinoue (graphic designer) said in radio that it is a little difficult to design illustrations for wide-screen.
Story
・A story of (high school?) students in Kazamatsuri-city on October.
・Characters in previows products were a little insane but protagonist is insane than characters around him in "Rewrite".
・There are many mini game elements. For example, controling maps like Google Maps.
・Romeo Tanaka, Ryukishi 07 and Yuto Tonogawa are scenario writers of "Rewrite". Very funny.
・An heroine is Twitter addict and says like "おせーよタコ" (You"re too late fool.).
・Background graphics and rendering are beautiful.
Benchmark
The trial edition includes benchmark software named "Chihaya-Rolling" ver 1.00 for users planning to purchase Rewrite.
That calculates the rank(like A, B or C) and score (like 1000000 meters) which means Chihaya(a character in Rewrite) rolled in the benchmark screen and specification of the PC.
My score is rank "C" and 947500 meters (between Okinawa-Osaka).
The comment is " That"s hot like Takoyaki! Be careful !!".
Opening Movie
The opening movie (low-resolution ver) is included in the disc. Pls check it out.
Theme song is "Philosophyz".
Lyrics is Yuto Tonogawa. Song is Runa Mizuya. The movie is created by RMG.
